Research & Development
The Solent Teaching School Alliance engages in local, regional and national research to improve outcomes for teachers and students. We often use film as a means of sharing our research more widely.
Since 2014, we have been engaged in a project which aims to improve standards in private, voluntary and independent (PVI) nurseries early years provision, through partnership with teaching schools. We have extended this project to research ways of improving school readiness for disadvantaged pupils in partnership with The Laurel Trust.
The Solent TSA is known for its work focusing upon equality and diversity. Projects include:
Men into Early Years
We looked at the barriers, real or perceived, which might prevent men considering working with young children.
The Motherhood Penalty
Building upon research by Future Leaders, we further examined how we might better retain teachers and leaders who are the mothers of young children.
The Glass Closet
We are exploring the factors which might deter gay men from staying within teaching or applying for leadership positions in the context of authentic leadership.
Invest in Teachers
A project aimed at developing positive work-place practices and approaches which might help to retain teachers in the profession.
